Gold dollar type 2

Type II gold dollars were made from 1854 to 1856 after many people complained about the too small size of type I gold dollar. These complaints were accepted and so the creation of new gold dollar started. Type II gold dollar is slightly larger than type I and has different Liberty head, this time in a feathered Indian dress and in this new design Liberty isn't surrounded by stars, but with inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Reverse design shows date and value within a wreath of cotton, wheat and tobacco. They were also composed of 90 % gold and 10 % of copper just like the type I gold dollars.

This type was 15 % larger in diameter and therefore less likely to be lost like type I, but yet it only lasted to 1856 when it was replaced with type III. These type is rarer than either of the other types and worths more than $200 just in average condition. Perfect condition of type II can even bring up to $100,000.
